The pressure gauge and sight glass help with maintenance. You aren't relying entirely on guesswork to know when the filter needs attention.
What We Don't Like
There is no separately documented system-flow rate. This is the biggest technical limitation for us because it makes accurate turnover comparisons more difficult.
There doesn't appear to be a built-in timer. That's a convenience feature we'd expect some buyers to miss at this price and capacity level.
175 lb of sand makes this a heavy installation. Once the tank is filled, consider it essentially stationary.
